About the BLIA

The Bass Lake Improvement Association (BLIA) is a volunteer organization made up of the homeowners having legal access to Bass Lake or its lagoons. Its primary purpose is to promote the care and improvement of the lake and adjoining or connected waters and watershed area of Bass Lake. It also serves as an active, unified, and influential voice in our community. BLIA strives to keep people in our area informed on community issues which may affect us all.

Bass Lake Improvement Association has contracted to treat Curly Leaf Pondweed (CLP), an Aquatic Invasive Species in Bass Lake in 2026.
Bass Lake Improvement Association has requested from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources a waiver of the requirement that the Association obtain the signatures of approval of owners of lakeshore property. Instead, the Bass Lake Improvement Association will notify property owners of the treatment through alternate forms. The posting of this notice is one form that the Bass Lake Improvement Association is using to notify property owners. Other forms may include but are not limited to notification through the Association’s email list, website, and spring meeting.
Regarding the treatment for this year, 2026:
1. The proposed date for treatment: April 1 through June 15, 2026
2. The target species for the treatment: Curly Leaf Pondweed
3. The method of control or product being used: EPA and MDA registered aquatic herbicides
4. How landowners may request that control not occur adjacent to the landowner’s property: If you
desire that the treatment of Curly Leaf Pondweed not occur adjacent to your property, please notify
the Association immediately at the address above or the email address [email protected].
